Dynamic Shear Rheometer – DSR

The Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) is the benchmark instrument for the rheological characterization of asphalt binders, enabling the evaluation of both viscous and elastic behaviour under oscillatory shear. It provides high-precision measurements for performance grading, fatigue analysis and rutting resistance, supporting all major international testing standards.

The system allows testing in oscillation, controlled shear rate, or controlled shear stress, making it suitable for dynamic viscosity determination and flow behaviour analysis.
A high-performance Peltier temperature control unit ensures fast, accurate temperature regulation across a wide range—crucial for evaluating asphalt binders at medium and high temperatures.

The DSR accommodates multiple measuring geometries, including cylindrical, cone-plate and plate-plate systems, offering full flexibility for routine testing and advanced rheological research.

The integrated software (EN, ASTM, AASHTO) automates testing, data acquisition and results interpretation, including PG grading and PASS/FAIL criteria. With pre-set profiles and the Bitumen Wizard, test execution becomes intuitive and highly repeatable.

Two models are available:
