The TFOT is designed for the determination of loss in mass and resistance to hardening of bituminous materials.
Its internal chamber and external frame are entirely made of stainless steel, with double-wall fibreglass insulation and a double-door configuration to ensure optimal thermal stability.
Temperature control is managed by a digital thermoregulator, while a dual safety thermostat prevents accidental overheating.
The rotating plate operates at 5–6 rpm, supporting uniform exposure during testing.
