The Matest Air Entrainment Meter is a hand-operated device designed to measure air content in fresh concrete, a key parameter for durability and workability.
The apparatus features an 8-litre aluminium pressure chamber. Air pressure is manually generated with the integrated hand pump. Opening the overflow valve achieves pressure equilibrium with the concrete or mortar sample. The resulting pressure drop, displayed on the gauge, indicates the material’s air content.
The meter can also determine the unit weight of fresh concrete and aggregates, providing versatile, on-site testing capabilities.
Ideal for quality control, monitoring air content changes due to chemical admixtures, and assessing concrete’s resistance to weathering.
Dimensions: Ø 250x570 mm
Weight: 10 kg approx.
Air content ranges and resolution:
| Entrained air volume (%) | Subdivisions |
| 0 - 8 | 0.1 |
| 8 - 15 | 0.5 |
| 15 - 20 | 1.0 |
| 20 - 50 | 5.0 |
| 50 - 100 | 10.0 |
The unit is completely manufactured and designed by Matest.

C197M Matest Air Entrainment Meter, 8 litres capacity, electric version
Same model as C196M but with a built-in automatic electric air compressor. The presence of an electric pump facilitates air pumping.
Air Content
Determines the amount of air present within a material or prepared sample, expressed as a percentage by volume.
